Faith-Based Time Travel

Promoted in advance of its premiere as “the most controversial movie of the year,” Black Easter is set to arrive on Amazon tomorrow, June 24, for $3.99. The film is about an extremist group that travels back in time to assassinate Jesus Christ before he can be crucified.

If Black Easter’s plot sounds vaguely familiar, it may be due to awareness of a 2020 flick, Assassin 33 A.D, from the same writer/director Jim Carrol, which seems to be essentially the same movie. It even has essentially the same trailer:

Hardly the most controversial movie of last year (but perhaps the most abysmal?) Assassin 33 A.D. has achieved a 2.9 rating on IMDb. It can now be streamed for $3.99 from Christian Cinema.
