Today, May 17, Acorn TV today adds a two-part British import, Like Father, Like Son, about a teen who might be following in his dad’s serial-killing footsteps.
Then tomorrow, May 18, MHz Choice debuts more international fare, The Fox, involving a crime-solving odd couple.
Newly engaged Dee Stanton (Jemma Redgrave) discovers that her 15-year-old son Jamie (Somerset Prew) is on a quest to meet his father – her first husband Paul (Phil Davis) – a man who murdered four young women 11 years earlier.
Obsessed with his father’s story, Jamie is then suspected of strangling a classmate at school. Is this an open-and-shut case based on a particular family predisposition – or is Jamie wrongly accused?
The cast includes Robson Green and Tara Fitzgerald.
Originally broadcast in the UK in 2005 as a two-hour TV movie, Like Father, Like Son is presented as two episodes on Acorn TV.
Acorn TV costs $5.99 monthly, with a seven-day free trial. For more info, visit acorn.tv.
The Fox, which consists of five TV movies released between 2015 and 2021, stars Lina Wendel as a no-nonsense former Stasi spy who teams with a well-connected importer/exporter (Karim Chérif) to solve crimes.
In the first film, the private detectives help a restaurant manager investigate the disappearance of her brother and the murder of her brother’s best friend.
The Fox is in German with English subtitles. MHz Choice will debut one episode weekly on Tuesdays through June 15.
MHz Choice costs $7.99 monthly or $89.99 yearly after a seven-day free trial. Right now, you can also get 50% off your first month by using the code SPRING2021.
