Flight, Work, Love, Faith

Myths and Hymns, a 1998 multi-genre song cycle by Tony-winning composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza), has been re-conceived by New York’s MasterVoices into 23 short musical films in four chapters. The first, Flight, will premiere free on YouTube this Wednesday, January 13, at 6:30 pm ET.

“We chose this work because we think it answers a deep need,” said Ted Sperling, MasterVoices’ artistic director and Tony-winning orchestrator (The Light in the Piazza). “How do we connect, find meaning and fulfillment when so many of our usual ways – gathering, singing, embracing – have become existential threats?”

Flight, which explores the possibility of finding fulfillment through escape, features a cast that includes multiple-Grammy-winning opera star Renée Fleming, singer/actress Annie Golden (Norma on Netflix’s Orange is the New Block), Tony winner Kelli O’Hara (The King and I), and multiple-Grammy-winning vocal group Take 6.

The succeeding three chapters are:
