Up, Up and Away!

Looking to escape from politics and viruses? How about a balloon ride? After all, as the 5th Dimension famously sang, “The world’s a nicer place in my beautiful balloon.”

So should it be for Kate (Jeannine Kaspar) and Myrianthy (Marianna Rosset), out for a leisurely ride in a hot air balloon while on the Mediterranean island of Cypress. Then, the balloon gets untethered without a pilot, and the suspense builds in S.O.S. Survive or Sacrifice, which debuted online yesterday.

Meanwhile, the actual star of the movie, William Baldwin (one of Alec’s three younger brothers, above), stays put on terra firma. He plays Myrianthy’s boyfriend Jack, who has committed a robbery, with Kate’s teenage sister Liz (Kseniya Pinch) as a witness. Then, somehow, the 13-year-old is put in the position of racing against time to save the balloonists.

If the film doesn’t get scary enough, note that the balloonists were actually up there aloft, without the use of CGI or other special effects. “We decided to shoot our movie with the maximum amount of real conditions: no studios and using a real hot air balloon,” said director Roman Doronin. “We set up an open-air stage, as we wanted the balloon to be seen actually flying above both land and sea. The basket was full-size with real burners that produced real flames, which blasted several meters high.”

Lise Romanoff, managing director/CEO of distributor Vision Films, calls S.O.S. Survive or Sacrifice “edge-of-your-seat action” and a ”heart-racing, hold-your-breath thriller…. It is sure to give everyone an adrenaline boost – something we all could use right now.”

You can stream S.O.S Survive or Sacrifice for $2.99 if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, or from $3.99 at Google Play, FandangoNow, Vimeo, Microsoft, YouTube and Amazon.
