Tomorrow, October 28, at 7 pm ET, thanks to the wonders of Zoom, there will be a 90-minute virtual reading for A Very Brady Musical to benefit Maine’s Ogunquit Playhouse.
The platform seems like a natural for the Bradys, as a cast of Broadway actors will perform their scenes and songs in the Zoom-like “Brady Squares.”
Described as both a tribute to the Sherwood Schwartz-produced program and a nod to the 1990 Brady film parodies, the plot involves the six Brady kids – erroneously believing their parents are headed for divorce – scheming to raise money for marriage counseling.
The reading cast will include Mary Poppins’ Gavin Lee (Mike), Beetlejuice’s Kerry Butler (Carol), The Onion News Network’s Klea Blackhurst (Alice), Wicked’s Celia Hottenstein (Marcia), Dash & Lily’s Troy Iwata (Peter), The Little Mermaid National Tour’s Diana Huey (Jan), Frozen’s Mason Reeves (Greg), Girls’ Anthony Zambito (Bobby), and A Bronx Tale’s Trista Dollison (Cindy).
You can watch the reading with a minimum $20 donation. A $100 donation will grant you access to a 30-minute post-reading chat with original show cast members Barry Williams (Greg) and Christopher Knight (Peter). For tickets, go to tickets.ogunquitplayhouse.org, then get instructions for attending the event.
Watch The Brady Bunch Series and Parodies
You can stream five seasons (91 of the 117 original episodes) of The Brady Bunch (1969 to 1974) with a Hulu subscription. You can also watch four episodes free over the air via antenna, starting Sundays at noon ET, on MeTV. For your local MeTV channel number, visit the network’s Where to Watch page
The Brady Bunch has had many sequels, reunions and adaptations.
Perhaps the best known of the reunion movies is A Very Brady Christmas (1988), which is available with a Hulu subscription.
Then there are the three parody films starring Gary Cole and Shelley Long.
A Very Brady Sequel (1996) is available to watch free, with ads, on IMDb. It’s also available, sans commercials, with subscriptions to HBO Max and Fubo TV; or you can rent starting at $2.99 from YouTube and other services.
The third Cole-Long effort was a TV movie, The Brady Bunch in the White House (2002). That film is currently unavailable for streaming.
