‘The Man Who Mends Women’

In 2018, Dr. Dennis Mukwege won the Nobel Peace Prize for helping victims of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Last month, due to death threats, the gynecologist was placed under guard by United Nations security forces.

To raise awareness and support his cause, ArtMattan Films has released its 2015 documentary The Man Who Mends Women: The Wrath of Hippocrates online. You can rent the film for $10 from Cinema Art Center.

Tomorrow, October 27, at 7 pm ET, you can also attend a free discussion about Dr. Mukwege’s situation with Maurice Carney, co-founder and executive director of the Friends of the Congo, and Dr. Reinaldo Barroso-Spech, co-founder and co-director of the African Diaspora International Film Festival. To register for the event, visit Zoom.
