‘Miscast,’ but in a Good Way

The thrice-rescheduled virtual Miscast 2020 – a gala to raise money for The Mental Health Coalition (MHC) and MCC Theater – will stream free this Sunday, September 13, at 7:45 pm ET on MCC Theater’s YouTube channel.

As its title suggests, well-known Broadway performers will take on roles for which they would never — or highly unlikely — be cast.

This year’s miscast includes:

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ Norbert Leo Butz

Aida’s Heather Headley

Mrs. Doubtfire’s Rob McClure

West Side Story’s Isaac Powell

An American in Paris’ Robert Fairchild

The Wrong Man’s Joshua Henry

The Notebook’s Ingrid Michaelson

Children of a Lesser God’s Lauren Ridloff

Shuffle Along’s Adrienne Warren

Hello, Dolly’s Beanie Feldstein

Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr.

Waitress’ Nicolette Robinson

Hamilton’s Phillipa Soo

Members of the original Broadway cast of Hairspray

Presenters will include School Girls’ Jocelyn Bioh, The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies, Law & Order: SVU’s Raúl Esparza, Lost Girls’ Piper Perabo, The Politician’s Judith Light and The Newsroom’s Thomas Sadoski.

The Mental Health Coalition was founded by social activist and fashion designer Kenneth Cole. MCC Theater develops productions for Off-Broadway. It also operates a Youth Company, has partnerships with New York City public high schools, and works with emerging playwrights.
