MHz Choice will premiere three series (all with English subtitles) this September, starting today with Piégés, a French thriller about a woman offered a gift of 1 million euros by a stranger – but in exchange for committing a reprehensible act.
MHz presents Piégés as a limited two-part series, although it originally aired in 2018 throughout Europe as a TV movie.
A stranger dangles a big payday before Elsa Aubry (Odile Vuillemin), but she must kill someone (“who deserves to die”) to get it. The money could be a lifesaver for a family member, but at what personal moral cost? The series is based on a British two-part 2011 series called The Reckoning.
The cast includes Thierry Neuvic, Audrey Hall, Sophie Verbeeck and Bruno Paviot.
Greyzone — Tuesday, September 8
Greyzone, which is partially in English, is a 10-episode, high-tech Swedish-Danish thriller about a drone engineer taken hostage by terrorists.
Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (Victoria Rahbek) is kidnapped for her tech know-how and access to her employer’s assets. The terrorists’ goal: Carry out an attack on Scandinavia.
The cast includes Ardalan Esmaili, Joachim Fjelstrup and Tova Magnusson.
The show first aired in 2019 on TV4 in Sweden and TV2 in Denmark.
Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games (season four) – Tuesday, September 22
MHz Choice will debut five more French TV-movie adaptations of Agatha Christie mysteries, all presented under the banner Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games.
Set in the 1950s, the 90-minute comedically-dramatic whodunits revolve around Chief Inspector Laurence (Samuel Labarthe), “a man of class and refined taste,” Laurence’s secretary (Elodie Frenck), and a “young ambitious journalist” (Blandine Bellavoir).
A total of 39 movies have been produced for the series since 2009. MHz Choice has 22 of them allotted over three seasons.
MHz Choice costs $7.99 monthly or $89.99 yearly after a seven-day free trial. But you can now get 50% off your first month by using the promo code SUMM20. For a device list, to learn what other subtitled international series are available, or to subscribe, visit mhzchoice.com.
