A Presidential ‘Apprentice’

As the nation awaits Donald Trump’s Thursday speech accepting the Republican nomination, we can’t help but wonder: Would he have become President without NBC’s The Apprentice?

Decide for yourself. Free streamer Tubi has all 15 seasons of the reality competition show.

For 14 seasons, contestants completed tasks, with members of the losing team encouraged to turn on one another in the boardroom. Each week’s payoff: Trump pointing a finger at someone and delivering his signature line, “You’re fired.”

Early seasons featured unknown business aspirants vying to secure an apprenticeship with The Trump Organization. The show made Omarosa Manigault, who went on to serve a short stint in Trump’s administration, a tabloid favorite. In later seasons, celebrities — including Piers Morgan, Khloe Kardashian, Geraldo Rivera, Jose Canseco, and convicted ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich — competed to win money for charity.

Ultimately, the show burnished Trump’s brand, launched his career as a TV star, and, some would argue, laid the groundwork for a winning presidential campaign.

Tubi can be accessed at tubitv.com, and on iOSAndroidRoku, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Sony, PlayStation 4, Samsung and other devices.
