Quibi, the subscription streamer specializing in short episodic series, debuts two shows today, July 20 –an action comedy Die Hart and an animated The Andy Cohen Diaries.
Real Kevin Hart is fictional Kevin Hart, who, tired of playing comedic sidekicks, wants to land a leading man action role. He gets his wish but must first train at the world’s greatest action star school, run by a lunatic (John Travolta). Travolta and a rival student (Nathalie Emmanuel) push Hart through an array of ridiculous stunts.
The 10-episode show also includes appearances by Jean Reno, Josh Hartnett and The Daily Show’s Jason Jones.
Hart has become something of a webisode franchise. He also hosts two interview shows on the Laugh Out Loud Network, both available to stream for free on YouTube. In Cold As Balls, Hart interviews sports superstars while sitting in tubs of ice, while in What the Fit, he does unusual workouts with celebrities.
A cartoon version of the Bravo talk show host promises to “share all my super confidential stories.” In addition to discussing fatherhood, Andy partakes in ‘animated’ discussions with Celine Dion, George R.R. Martin, The Kardashians, Sarah Jessica Parker and other guests over the course of six short episodes.
Quibi has struggled to build and maintain its subscriber base since its April debut, losing 90 percent of early users after their free trials expired.
Quibi can be on iOS and Android mobile devices. In addition, starting with Quibi app version 4.1, viewers can use Chromecast to watch it on TV. It costs $4.99 monthly with ads and $7.99 without ads, with a two-week free trial. For more info and to subscribe, visit Quibi.com.
