Today, Netflix debuts a reality dating show – Indian Matchmaking – and a feature thriller about an ill-advised brief encounter – Fatal Affair.

Indian Matchmaking

Sima Taparia, described as an “elite Indian matchmaker,” tries to help the dating app generation find love the old-fashioned way.  (You can visit suitablerishta.com for more about her services.)

In the eight-episode series, Taparia seeks to pair millennial-aged prospects based on shared interests, personal goals and in-depth astrological readings. The show accompanies singles from Houston, Chicago, Mumbai and elsewhere on first dates, “often with their family in tow.”  The quality of the dates ranges from fun to extremely awkward – so grab the popcorn.

Ellie (Nia Long) is trying to fix things with husband Marcus (Stephen Bishop) after a brief encounter with an old friend, David (Epps). But David turns out to be a dangerous psycho. Who knew?
