Divos! is a new comedy about two teens battling for the lead role in a high school musical. One’s already an ambitious actor, the other’s a star athlete. Soon, the claws come out.

The movie’s described as a cross between High School Musical and Mean Girls. But this time, as the title might have clued you in, the two rivals are boys — played respectively by Matt Steele, who also wrote the screenplay, and Timothy Brundidge.

Divos! has just debuted for rental or purchase from several outlets, with the best current deal to be found at Google Play: $3.99 for HD rental, or $9.99 to buy.

The cast of Divos! also includes Marissa Jaret Winokur (Tony winner for Hairspray), Nicole Sullivan, Jayson Bernard, Jason Stuart and Jake Busey.

Ryan Patrick Bartley directed Divos!, which is being distributed by Freestyle Digital Media.

Incidentally, don’t come to Divos! expecting lavish musical numbers. Despite the plot being about competition for a high school musical, the movie itself is not being billed as a musical comedy. There’s also seems to be no mention of music contributors on the movie’s website. So we scoured IMDb and can report that the music for Divos! was done by Julia Zuzanna Sokolowska.
