‘Holiday’ Viewing Party

“Leave Manhattan, just give me that countryside.”

Those are the theme-song lyrics and plot for the TV classic Green Acres. They’re also the storyline for Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical, the 2016 Broadway production based on the 1942 film. BroadwayHD will stream a recording of that show – for free – tomorrow, May 30, at 8 pm ET.

The “live viewing party,” presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company, Concord Theatricals, PlayBill and BroadwayHD, will also serve as a fundraiser for The Actors Fund.

Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical stars Bryce Pinkham as Jim Hardy, part of a New York City song-and-dance trio. Jim quits the team, proposes to dance partner Lila Dixon (Megan Sikora), and plans to move them both to a Connecticut farmhouse to start a family. Lila, however, opts to go on tour with her other dance partner, Ted Hanover (Corbin Bleu). Meanwhile, Jim falls in love with talented teacher Linda (Lora Lee Gayer) and together they turn the farmhouse into a holiday inn (as opposed to a Holiday Inn, the hotel whose naming was inspired by the film).

David Horn directed, with writing credits going to Gordon Greenberg, Chad Hodge…and Irving Berlin.

If you want to chat with others about the musical, you can join a Roundabout Community Conversation on Friday, June 5, from 7 to 8 pm ET, via Zoom.
