Subscription streamer BritBox will unveil the full BBC Television Shakespeare Collection – that is, adaptations of all of the Bard’s 37 plays – this Tuesday, May 26.

Noteworthy performances will include:

Richard II (1978) – starring Derek Jacobi in the title role and John Gielgud as John of Gaunt

Timon of Athens (1981) – featuring Jonathan Pryce as Timon

As You Like It (1978) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1981) – both with Helen Mirren

The Taming of the Shrew (1980) – including Monty Python’s John Cleese as Petruchio

King Lear (1982) – look for Downton Abbey’s Penelope Wilton as Lear’s daughter Regan

Romeo and Juliet (1978) – with Alan Rickman in his first screen role as Tybalt

Troilus & Cressida (1981) – starring Charles Gray (Blofeld in Diamonds are Forever)

Henry VIII (1979) – with Julian Glover (For Your Eyes Only, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) as the Duke of Buckingham.
