A meta comedy fundraiser?

Perhaps that’s one way to describe the short, six-episode series Livin’ On a Prairie, which premieres this Sunday, May 24, at 3 pm ET, on via Facebook. Subsequent episodes will debut Sundays through June 21.

The June 21 finale will conclude with a cast reunion of A Little House on the Prairie (NBC, 1974-1983), which will also serve as a fundraiser for The Actors Fund.

Pamela Bob, who wrote and co-produced the new series with Cut&Dry Films, stars as a socially awkward woman who finds solace only in the reassuring but fictional community found in Little House on the Prairie. But is her obsession with the 1970s family show preventing her from connecting with the real world?

Familiarity with the original show is not required to watch Livin’ on a Prairie, Bob said.  But it certainly helps if you want to appreciate some of the inside jokes and cameos. For example, Alison Arngrim, who played Laura Ingalls’ (Melissa Gilbert) frenemy Nellie Oleson, appears as Pamela’s life coach.

“The question is,” the life coach asks Pam, “are you getting more out of the show than you get out of your real life?”

After each episode, Bob will host a discussion with Little House on the Prairie cast members. Fans will be able to submit questions via for a chance to win prizes.

Expected Little House cast members at the reunion include Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle), Karen Grassle (Caroline Ingalls “Ma”), Dean Butler (Almonzo Wilder), Hersha Parady (Alice Garvey), Radames Pera (John), Pamela Roylance (Sarah Carter),Dave Friedman (Jason Carter) and Wendi Lou Lee (Baby Grace).
