If laughter is the best medicine, you might want to check out two therapy spoofs available online — Therapy with Pami and Web Therapy, starring Lisa Kudrow.

Therapy with Pami

All 16 sessions –  i.e., short-form episodes – of Therapy with Pami are available to stream free at facebook.com/TherapyWithPami. (Many episodes are also available free on YouTube.)

The patient in question, Pami, is a Beverly Hills-based reality star (Kaitlin Huwe) who receives “sliding-scale therapy” from Dr. L. (Stephaine Erb) of the fictional Chatsworth Psychiatric Institute. In this spoof, the sessions, recorded for the edification of Institute students, go “beneath the layers of delusion, dysfunction, and lip fillers to help Pami become her best self.”

“I love my fans,” Pami says at the beginning of one episode.

“Well, they’re not really fans,” says Dr. L. “They’re therapists in training and they find you fascinating.”

Zoom Psychology?

Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy, which ran four seasons (44 twenty-minute episodes) on Showtime (2011-2015), seems suited to our times.

Kudrow plays Fiona Wallice who, having quit her finance job under questionable circumstances, sets up an online therapy practice. Her specialty? Offering three-minute sessions because, she claims, that’s all the time a patient needs to get at the heart of any problem. In reality, those sessions can go over three minutes depending on how much comedy gold can be mined.

The entire show unfolds via webcams. Former Friends’ co-stars David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt Leblanc and Courtney Cox drop by, as do a long list of other celebrities including Alan Cumming, Jon Hamm, Steve Carell, Billy Crystal, Conan O’Brien, and on and on.

The regular cast includes Lily Tomlin as Fiona’s mother, Dan Bucatinsky as Fiona’s easily manipulated assistant and Victor Garber as Fiona’s husband.

You can watch the first episode here:

You can buy individual episodes from all four seasons on Amazon starting at $1.99.
