To celebrate Modern Family’s 11th and final season, ABC will air a three-hour marathon of the popular series this Wednesday, March 11, at 8 pm ET.
The evening begins with the 2009 pilot that introduced audiences to Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), his much younger newlywed wife, Gloria (Sofia Vergara), and her pre-teen son Joe (Jeremy Maguire). In this episode, we also meet Jay’s grown daughter by a previous marriage, Claire (Julie Bowen), who has three kids and a husband, Phil (Ty Burrell). Their teenage daughter, Haley (Sarah Hyland), brings a boy home and Phil tries to play the cool dad. Meanwhile, son Luke (Nolan Guild) misuses his BB gun, causing Phil and Claire to turn the tables on him. Finally, Jay’s adult son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his life partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) adopt a baby girl from Vietnam.
The remaining episodes were selected by viewers via Twitter:
8:30 pm — “Caught in the Act” (season two). Phil and Claire’s kids try to treat their parents to breakfast in bed for their anniversary, but inadvertently catch them in a compromising position.
9 pm — “Door to Door” (season three). Jay is determined to help his stepson, Gloria’s son Manny (Rico Rodriguez), sell wrapping paper for a school fundraiser while Claire petitions the city to install a stop sign at a high-traffic intersection.
9:31 pm — “Las Vegas” (season five). Jay gets the family accomodations at the Excelsior Level hotel but becomes obsessed with upgrading.
10 pm — “Connection Lost” (season six). Claire’s computer becomes the hub of family activities when she gets stuck at the airport and is desperate to reach Haley after a big fight.
10:30 pm — “The Alliance” (season eight). At the Pritchett-Tucker home, Gloria, Phil and Cam form a secret alliance to ensure their respective “mistakes” are concealed from their spouses.
The final episode of Modern Family will air Wednesday, April 8, on ABC.
