Sacred Lies, Facebook’s free horror-tinged drama loosely based both on tales from the Brothers Grimm and real-life murder cases, will debut a second 10-episode season on Thursday, February 20 at 3 pm ET. This time, a new cast tackles The Singing Bones, upping the ante from the Grimm’s singular The Singing Bone.
Jordan Alexander stars as a woman, abandoned as a child, who searches for the family she never knew. She finds her father, played by Ryan Kwanten (Jason in HBO’s True Blood). He’s in prison but may be guilty of even more crimes. Oscar nominee Juliette Lewis (Cape Fear) is an armchair detective who searches for unidentified murder victims. Kristin Bauer, who has some experience with fairy tale TV series (she played Maleficent in ABC’s Once Upon a Time) has a recurring role as Alexander’s foster mother.
The first season of Sacred Lies was based both on the tale The Handless Maiden and a Stephanie Oakes’ novel The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly. It involved a teenager (Elena Kampouris) who escapes from a cult minus her hands and finds herself in juvenile detention, suspected of knowing who killed her cult leader.
