My Grandfather’s Prayers, a multimedia theatrical show debuting Saturday at 8 pm ET on JLTV, honors Izso Glickstein, (1889-1947) a Jewish cantor whose claims to fame include influencing music great Leonard Bernstein.

Granddaughter Lisa Sturz uses shadow puppets, scrolling backgrounds, marionettes, floating images, oversized props, digital effects and text to tell Glickstein’s story — from surviving pogroms in his native Ukraine to revered celebrity status in Boston. In the process, Sturz explores her own ancestry, artistry, spirituality and social responsibility

JLTV’s 90-minute presentation is a filmed version of a touring live show that Sturz performs through her Tucson-based Red Herring Puppets.

JLTV streams live for free at jltv.tv/watchjltv.php in addition to availability on DirecTV and some cable systems.
