‘The Draft Dodger’ and ‘The Politicians’

Did you enjoy ABC’s recreations of Good Times and All in the Family last night? Are you now eager to see the original versions of each episode? GetTV gets it!

The over-the-air classic TV channel has scheduled both episodes for tomorrow night, December 20.

GetTV, however, will reverse ABC’s show order, starting with All in the Family’s “The Draft Dodger” at 9 pm ET and concluding with Good Times’ “The Politicians’ at 9:30.

“The Draft Dodger”(season 7, episode 15), which originally aired on Christmas Day, 1976, earned an Emmy nomination for director Paul Bogart. The Bunkers’ guests for Christmas dinner include Archie’s friend, a Gold Star father, and Mike’s friend, a draft dodger. Is an explosion imminent?

In “The Politicians” (season 3, episode 9, November 4, 1975), James Evans and his wife Florida back opposing candidates in a local election. Their sons J.J. and Michael also take different sides.

Here’s the Good Times theme song, as sung on ABC by Patti LaBelle and Anthony Anderson:
