Amazon Prime add-on channel PBS Masterpiece will debut four shows this October, including three from Walter Presents.
October 6 – Press (6 Episodes)
Press, which first aired on BBC One in 2018, is a drama about two fictional rival London newspapers coping with the rapidly evolving nature of the media world and the resulting ethical dilemmas. The cast includes Peaky Blinders’ Charlotte Riley as Holly Evans, news editor of The Herald; The Truth About Cats & Dogs’ Ben Chaplin as Duncan Allen, editor of the Post; Game of Thrones’ Ellie Kendrick as a Herald reporter; and Agatha Christie’s Poirot’s David Suchet as George Emmerson, chairman and CEO of the Post’s corporate parent.
October 11 – Walter Presents: Mother is Wrong (6 Episodes)
Mother is Wrong, which originally ran on France 2, deals with Malone (Tom d’Ornano), a three-year-old boy who insists that his mother is not his actual mother. Child psychologist Vasile (Samuel Theis) believes him, but police captain Marianne Aubrais (Anne Charrier) is skeptical. Is it the little boy’s imagination or was he actually kidnapped? To complicate matters further, Vasile and Marianne have an affair. In French, with English subtitles.
October 18 – Walter Presents: The Lawyer (10 Episodes)
In this Swedish crime-thriller, ambitious defense lawyer Frank Nordling (Alexander Karim) learns that one of the leaders of Copenhagen’s underworld, Thomas Waldman (Thomas Bo Larsen) – a client of his firm – was behind his parents’ murder. Meanwhile, Nordling’s sister Sara Khalil (Malin Buska) is a police officer obsessed with finding their parents’ killer. In Swedish, with English subtitles.
October 25 – Walter Presents: 23 Cases (6 Episodes)
The German public is relieved when serial killer Maximillian Rapp (Franz Dinda) confesses to 23 brutal murders. But when a new victim is found, Detective Tara Schöll (Shadi Hedayati) and her lover and colleague Henry Kloss (Bernhard Piesk) suspect Rapp was given a bum rap – at least in some of the cases. Tara and Henry turn to Rapp for help in finding the real murderer. But is Rapp just playing mind games? In German, with English subtitles.
