Here’s one landmark church that doesn’t need preservationists to come to its rescue.

The indie horror thriller, The Church, now available to rent for $5.99 from Amazon, stars a sanctuary quite capable of defending itself.

The local church is the only source of salvation in a run-down Philadelphia neighborhood. An ambitious developer who wants to demolish the church tempts its pastor (Bill Moseley) with money. The church, “infused with the Holy Spirit,” does not approve and soon delivers divine retribution to those who would destroy it.

The cast also includes The Human Centipede’s Ashley C. Williams and Apollo 13’s Clint Howard.

Dom Frank wrote and directed.
