Amazon Prime add-on channel PBS Masterpiece will debut six series in August, including four from Walter Presents.

August 2 — Walter Presents: Seaside Hotel season one, six episodes (Danish with English subtitles)

Seaside Hotel (Badehotellet) is described as a cross between Downton Abbey and Agatha Christie. It’s the 1920s and an 18-year-old (Rosalind Mynster) takes a job as chambermaid at a rural beach hotel in Denmark. Ignoring her father’s warnings, she mingles with the guests, learning the secrets that belie the idyllic setting around her.

August 9 – Walter Presents: Guardian of the Castle, four episodes (Croatian with English subtitles)

Guardian of the Castle takes place during the Cold War on Christmas Eve, 1977. Croatian secret agent Dragi (Vinko Kraljevic) assassinates an entire family deemed a threat to the communist regime, even though it means killing a personal friend. Eight years later, Dragi is given an assignment in Germany, but the man he’s supposed to kill is kidnapped moments before Dragi carries out his mission. Is it truly a kidnapping or was the German secret service secretly tipped off?

August 16 – Walter Presents: The Neighbors season one, 10 episodes (Dutch with English subtitles)

The Neighbors (Nieuwe Buren) begins with a happy couple, Eva (Bracha van Doesburgh) and Peter (Daan Schuurmans), who move into a new house in a quiet neighborhood in the suburbs of Amsterdam. Tragedy strikes when Eva gives birth prematurely and her baby dies. The couple finds support in neighbors Rebecca (Katja Schuurman) and Steef (Thijs Römer). However, as the two couples become more involved, secrets are revealed and lines crossed with fatal consequences.

August 30, Walter Presents: Before We Die season one, 10 episodes (Dutch with English subtitles)

In Before We Die (Innan vi dör) Hanna (Marie Richardson) is a cop approaching early retirement. What’s more, her son Christian (Adam Pålsson), whom she arrested for drug possession, has just been released from a two-year prison sentence.

Then Hanna’s colleague and lover Sven (Johan Hedenberg), who has been investigating a biker gang, is kidnapped. Hanna learns Sven had been working with a critical informant. Unbeknownst to her, it’s her own son. She continues the relationship with the informant via text, a relationship that grows stronger.
