Tainted, a 13-episode Brazilian crime thriller from Walter Presents, is the first of several premieres this month on PBS Masterpiece, the Amazon Prime add-on channel.

In Tainted, debuting today, André Camara is an ex-cop who served a three-year sentence for child kidnapping. His father, also a cop, was the true culprit, but convinced his son to take the fall so that he – diagnosed with terminal cancer – could live out his last few months as a free man. Dad, however, failed to leave behind a post-mortem exculpatory confession clearing André. As a result, upon his release, André’s record is tainted, leaving him no other career choice but to take up bounty hunting.

The series is in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Endeavour and Jamestown June 17

On Monday, June 17, the six-episode sixth season of Endeavour and the eight-episode third — and final — season of Jamestown will bow.

Endeavour, a prequel to the Inspector Morse series, is set in 1969. Following the dissolution of the Oxford City Police and the merging with Thames Valley Constabulary, Sergeant Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) is demoted to uniformed officer in the Woodstock police department.

The cast also includes Roger Allam, Anton Lesser, Sean Rigby, James Bradshaw, Sara Vickers, Abigail Thaw and Caroline O’Neill.

Jamestown, from the producers of Downton Abbey, is about three women who make the dangerous journey across the Atlantic for a new life in 17th century America. Season three opens with a booming Jamestown economy and the promise of freedom. But there are feuds, a revenge plot, a tyrannical leader, and a clash between the English and the native Pamunkey tribe.

The three female leads are played by Sophie Rundle, Niamh Walsh and Naomi Battrick. The cast also includes Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Kalani Queypo and Raoul Trujillo.

Amazon Prime subscribers can get PBS Masterpiece for an additional $5.99 a month following a seven-day free trial.
