Comedian and professed atheist Ricky Gervais stars in After Life, a six-episode comedy debuting on Netflix this Friday, March 8.

The ‘after life,’ in this case, refers to Tony’s (Gervais) world following the death of his wife Lisa (Derek’s Kerry Godliman). After contemplating suicide, Tony decides to continue living in order to punish all by saying and doing whatever he likes. He proclaims his new-found nastiness as a “super power.” Meanwhile, his family and friends try to resurrect the previously nice-guy Tony.

The cast also includes Downton Abbey’s Penelope Wilton, Tom Basden, Tony Way, David Bradley, and Agatha Raisin’s Ashley Jensen.

Gervais created, wrote and directed the series and also served as an executive producer.
