What’s it like trying to make people laugh in a war zone like Iraq? How do you break into comedy in Somalia?

“It takes brave people to make dangerous comedy,” Larry Charles says in the trailer for his new four-part documentary series, Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy.

Charles knows something about taking chances for laughs, having directed two edgy comedies starring Sacha Baron Cohen – Bruno and Borat.

The docuseries, which debuts tomorrow February 15, on Netflix, goes to Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Palestine, the US and other locales, to profile comedy cultures thriving in unexpected – and sometimes dangerous – places.
