If you’ve never seen or heard of YouTube Premium’s Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television*, here’s a chance to become acquainted.

From now until February 13, YouTube offers the entire eight-episode first season for free.

For the uninitiated, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television* is a meta (i.e., absurdly self-referential) comedy that pokes fun at Hollywood and police procedurals. It stars Veronica Mars’ Ryan Hansen as – who else – Ryan Hansen. Hansen joins an LAPD task force that pairs actors with homicide detectives. Why? Thespian skills can help the police solve murders.

The show revels in a long list of cameos that include Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell, plus Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Jon Cryer, Thomas Lennon, Jane Lynch, Tim Matheson, Joel McHale, Tim Meadows, Stephen Merchant, Ben Schwartz, Dax Shepard and Jessica St. Clair.

In its first season, The Handmaid’s Tale’s and Orange is the New Black’s Samira Wiley played Hansen’s detective partner. In the second season, The Wire’s Wood Harris will be his partner.

Season two debuts January 30 on YouTube Premium.

Series creator Rawson Marshall Thurber, who wrote and directed We’re the Millers and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, also serves as a writer and executive producer.

YouTube Premium offers a three-month free trial after which you’ll be charged $11.99/month. Students can get a one-month free trial and then be charged just $5.99/month. Visit youtube.com/premium for more info.

YouTube recently unveiled plans to make original Premium shows available for free on its regular platform, but with ads, starting in 2019. It’s not clear when and if Ryan Hansen will be added to that mix.
