Free over-the-air channels will debut several series — including Boston Legal, The Office and The Good Wife — on New Year’s Day.
Here are highlights by daypart.
Boston Legal will air on Escape, weeknights at 8 pm and 9 pm ET. This David E. Kelley-created drama, which originally ran five seasons (101 episodes) on ABC from 2004 to 2008, stars James Spader, William Shatner and Candice Bergen. As its name implies, Boston Legal is about lawyers.

Competing with Boston Legal at 9 pm ET/PT, Start TV will debut Strong Medicine. This Whoopi Goldberg-created drama, which originally ran six seasons (132 episodes) on Lifetime from 2000 to 2006, stars Rosa Blasi, Janine Turner and Patricia Richardson. As its name implies, Strong Medicine is about doctors.
At 10 pm, Cozi TV will offer The Office. This mockumentary sitcom, which originally ran nine seasons (201 episodes) on NBC from 2005 to 2013, stars Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fische and Mindy Kaling, among others. As its name implies, The Office is about office workers. If you prefer to view on-demand, you can also stream the entire series on Netflix.
At 11 pm and midnight weekdays, Start TV will air The Good Wife. This drama, which originally ran seven seasons (156 episodes) on CBS from 2009 to 2016, stars Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Alan Cumming and Christopher Noth. As its name doesn’t imply, The Good Wife is about lawyers and politicians. If you prefer to view on-demand, you can also stream the entire series on Amazon Prime, Hulu or CBS All Access.
At 10 am weekdays, Start TV will air Unforgettable. This police procedural originally ran four seasons (61 episodes) from 2011 to 2016, first on CBS and then on A&E. Poppy Montgomery stars as a detective with the rare ability to remember everything she sees.
At 1 pm and 3 pm, Start TV will air Crossing Jordan. This procedural, which originally ran six seasons (117 episodes) on NBC from 2001 to 2007, stars Jill Hennessy as a medical examiner.
Finally, Escape will run the first 12 seasons (277 episodes) of Law & Order, which ran on NBC from 1990 to 2002, at 2 pm and 3 pm. While it may sometimes seem as if Law & Order airs somewhere at every hour of the day, the original series right now can only be seen on cable channels We TV and Sundance TV. And, like all the shows above except The Office and The Good Wife, it’s not on any subscription streamer.
