Production company Cartuna says Liverspots and Astronots has been in the works for a decade, ever since the show’s creators Robert Bohn and Nate Milton envisioned it while still students. The 21-episode series is full of “funky old folks who discover they are integral to the survival of the universe.”

Nicole Sullivan, known for her roles on such shows as Black-ish, Disjointed and The King of Queens, co-stars as Big Man, one of the buddies in the Dusty Craters nursing home who are out to save the world. The cast also includes Colin Mochrie as the other buddy, as well as Pauly Shore, Selma Blair, Dick Cavett and John Waters.

Following today’s premiere, three episodes will debut each Thursday through November 29.
