Rita, ‘The Love Goddess’

Movie legend Rita Hayworth, aka “The Love Goddess,” was born 100 years ago today, October 17.

In her honor, here’s probably her most famous role, the femme fatale title character in Gilda (1946):

The following year, Hayworth actually played a goddess in Down to Earth:

Off screen, though, the star with the sex symbol image was apparently quite…well, “down to earth.” Here. in one of her last appearances (1971), she pays homage to Carol Burnett’s charwoman character on the latter’s CBS variety show:
