‘You Know That Scene’

Focus Features has debuted the first episode of a free film discussion series, You Know That Scene.

The eight-minute pilot, focusing on African-American films and filmmakers, can be considered a promotion vehicle for Focus Features’ current theatrical feature, Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. The show also looks at Straight Outta Compton (2015), Get Out (2017) and Lee’s seminal joint Do the Right Thing (1989), all of which are distributed by Focus Features’ parent company Universal Pictures. This year’s mega-hit Black Panther, from Marvel/Disney, never enters the discussion.

You can’t go wrong with clips from the four included movies, though, so You Know That Scene is still fun. You can stream it on Facebook or right here:

Pilot: African American Filmmakers

“It is provocative. It is profound… It is so relevant to today.” You Know That Scene sits down to discuss BlacKkKlansman and African American filmmakers.
