Stargate Origins, the fourth TV series in MGM’s Stargate sci-fi franchise, is now a reassembled film called Stargate Origins: Catherine (Feature Cut).

The movie costs $19.99 in HD (and purportedly 4K) on iTunes, Amazon and via other providers.

It will also soon be free to watch with the purchase of an All-Access Pass to the franchise streamer Stargate Command.

The series, which debuted last February, consists of 10 ten-minute episodes. The reconstituted film includes “new visual effects, an upgraded sound mix, and smooth transitions that turn the adventure’s original serial format into a seamless feature-length experience.”

Stargate Origins is set in 1939, when a young Catherine Langford (Ellie Gall) and her father Professor Paul Langford (Connor Trinneer) try to solve the mystery of an ancient relic they discovered years before in the Egyptian desert. As World War II looms, a Nazi occultist Dr. Wilhelm Brücke (Aylam Orian) approaches “their facility with a sinister motive.” Catherine soon embarks on an adventure to rescue her father and find out “what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.”

Viveca Lindfors played Langford in Stargate (1994), the movie that launched the franchise. Elizabeth Hoffman assumed the role in several episodes of Stargate SG-1, the first Stargate TV series (1997-2007).

Trinneer previously played Michael in Stargate Atlantis (2004-2009), the franchise’s second series. Star Trek fans will also know Trinneer as Commander Charles ‘Trip’ Tucker III in the Enterprise series (2001-2005).

The Stargate Command streamer all access pass costs $20 and is good for three months. It includes a library offering all 350-plus episodes of SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, as well as the Stargate Origins series. It also has the three other movies – Stargate, Stargate: Continuum, and Stargate: The Ark of Truth.
