Brown Sugar, over-the-air channel Bounce TV‘s sibling streaming service, will take a modest step into the world of original content when it debuts the short space satire, Blackstar Warrior, on Sunday, June 24.

Billed as a “blaxploitation-meets-Star Wars mashup,” Blackstar Warrior is set in a 1970’s version of the future. It stars Leonard Roberts as space detective Tyson Roderick, who discovers that his adoptive parents’ secret genetics lab is led by a cult of space nuns determined to take over the galaxy. Tyson’s mission? Defeat The Man (Michael Friedrichs), free The Man’s captive disciples and find out the truth about his real mother.

Matt Haley directed and co-wrote the script with Simon Oré.

Brown Sugar offers a free seven-day trial, after which you’ll be billed $3.99 a month. You can stream the service at BrownSugar.com and via Amazon Prime, Kindle, Apple TV, Roku,  Fire TV, Android and iOS devices.
