Subscription streamer Walter Presents will debut the second season of Code 37: Sex Crimes, this Thursday, May 17.
The series, which ran for three seasons in Belgium (2009 to 2012), stars Veerle Batens as Chief Inspector Hannah Maes of the Ghent Vice Squad. The special unit “investigates the underbelly of Ghent’s most serious and brutal sexual offense crimes; rape, incest, pornography, abuse, pedophilia, exhibitionism, harassment and discrimination.”
As Inspector Maes attempts to find justice for sex crime victims, she must also fight bureaucratic restraints and the attitudes of a traditionally male workplace.
She’s also “on a personal vendetta to punish her mother’s rapist in order to try and get over the traumas of her past.”
In the 13-episode second season, “the person responsible for causing her so much pain … strikes again… This time, Hannah’s father is the victim. Her attempts to save him put Hannah in a life-threatening situation. She becomes isolated in her private life and she feels like hunted prey in her professional life.”
The cast includes Michael Pas (Bob De Groof), Marc Lauwrys (Charles Ruiters) and Gilles De Schryver (Kevin Desmet).
Code 37: Sex Crimes is presented in Flemish with English subtitles.
You can watch the first two episodes of season two for free on Vimeo.
You can also stream season one, from 2009, now at Walter Presents.
The streamer has not announced when or if it will release the third and final season.
Walter Presents offers $6.99 monthly and $69.99 annual subscription plans. Its library consists of subtitled foreign-language TV dramas.
You can access Walter Presents online and via iPhone, iPad and Android devices, Apple TV, Amazon Channels, and Roku.
