Rob Riggle ‘Academy’

Rob Riggle, the former Daily Show correspondent and US marine, has begun production on an eight-episode comedy series for Crackle.

Rob Riggle’s Ski Master Academy will star Riggle as Riggle, a “celebrity patriot … mostly known for his legendary ski master movies.” The star invests his fortune “and reputation into an academy celebrating America’s truest art form… personal watercraft riding.” He is joined by “his legendary stunt man commandant Dirk Hamsteak (Billy Merritt) and their entire staff of instructors,” in “defending their beloved academy at all costs. No matter how many people criticize it… go missing… or die!”

The cast will also include Britt Baron, Eliza Coupe, Billy Merritt, Dave (Gruber) Allen, Alison Rich, Carl Tart, Samm Levine and Rizwan Manji.

Riggle also serves as a writer and executive producer. The show is produced by Sonar Entertainment and Abominable Pictures.

Crackle didn’t announce a premiere date.

This is Riggle’s second Crackle project. He previously appeared in Dead Rising: Watchtower, a 2015 film based on the video game franchise. In Dead Rising: Watchtower, Riggle plays Frank West, a “zombie-killing photojournalist” who goes on TV to tell the citizens of zombie-infested East Mission, Oregon that they’re basically screwed.

Unfortunately, Dead Rising: Watchtower is no longer available for free on Crackle. You can, however, rent it starting at $2.99 from Fandango Now and a host of other providers.

For more of Riggle’s tough-guy brand of humor, here he is in a sketch with another Daily Show alum, Stephen Colbert:
