‘Pete’ Sneaks Back Today

The long-awaited second season of Sneaky Pete arrives today, March 9, on Amazon Prime.

Starring Giovanni Ribisi in the title role of a con man, Sneaky Pete was renewed quickly back in January 2017 just one week after becoming Amazon’s second most-streamed original scripted series on a premiere day (The Man in the High Castle still claims the distinction as number one).

As befits highly successful cons, Sneaky Pete has had a fairly complicated plot. In short, con man Marius last season left jail and went into hiding posing as his former prison cellmate, Pete, and living with Pete’s family. Now, “Marius is on the verge of starting fresh, when two thugs, believing he is Pete, threaten to kill the family unless he takes them to Pete’s estranged mother.”

Jane Adams (Showtime’s Twin Peaks) joins the cast as Pete’s mother. Sneaky Pete also stars Margo Martindale (The Americans), Marin Ireland (Side Effects), Shane McRae (Still Alice), Libe Barer (Parenthood) and Peter Gerety (NBC’s Prime Suspect).

Sneaky Pete was co-created and is executive produced by Bryan Cranston, who also starred as a gangster during the show’s first season. His character’s name, Vince, was apparently an homage to Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan.

Amazon Prime subscribers can now see both the 10-episode first season and 10-episode second season at Amazon.com/SneakyPete, or via Amazon’s app for TVs and other connected devices.
