In 1977, NBC broadcast a 10-episode science fiction adventure called The Fantastic Journey.

Not to be confused with the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage starring Raquel Welch, The Fantastic Journey involved a scientific expedition that gets lost in the Bermuda Triangle and lands on an uncharted island, where they meet travelers from other times, planets and dimensions.

Think of it as Sliders meets Gilligan’s Island.

GetTV will air all 10 episodes on two consecutive Sunday nights this month. The first five episodes will air March 12, starting at midnight ET/ 9 pm PT, concluding the same time on March 19 with the last five installments.

Roddy McDowall, best known for playing Cornelius and Caesar in the original Planet of the Apes film franchise, stars as Dr. Jonathan Willaway, a “rebel scientist” from the 1960s who is a technology master with possibly ulterior motives.

Dallas’ Jared Martin is Varian, “a man from the 23rd Century possessing awesome powers” and  the de facto group leader.  The rest of the cast includes Escape from Witch Mountain’s Ike Eisenmann, The A-Team’s Carl Franklin and Katie Saylor as Liana.

The series also features guest appearances by Dynasty’s Joan Collins, Charlie’s Angels’ Cheryl Ladd, Deadwood’s Ian McShane and Simon and Simon’s Gerald McRaney, among others.

D.C. Fontana, known for her Star Trek scripts, was a writer. Bruce Lansbury, brother of actress Angela Lansbury, was executive producer.

Ike Eisenmann also appeared in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982) in what Star Trek fans would call a “red shirt” cameo – i.e., he’s introduced so he can be killed off.

Here, Eisenmann talks about working on both Star Trek and The Fantastic Journey:
