‘This Close’ Today

Deaf actors Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman created, wrote and star in This Close, a six-episode, half-hour relationship dramedy debuting today on subscription streamer Sundance Now.

Stern and Feldman play best friends — newly engaged Kate and newly disengaged Michael – who struggle with their own relationship as their individual tides shift. Deaf actress Marlee Matlin, who won an Oscar three decades ago for Children of a Lesser God, plays Michael’s mother Annie, a recovering alcoholic trying to reconnect with her son.

This Close is directed by Andrew Ahn (Spa Night), who also serves as an executive producer.

You can see the first two episodes today with a Sundance Now subscription, and then a new episode every Wednesday through March 14.

Sundance Now, offering independent films, documentaries and TV series, costs $6.99 monthly or $59.99 annually after a seven-day free trial. But try using code LOVE or SSF18 for a free month instead.

Sundance Now can be found at sundancenow.com or via iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, Fire TV and Chromecast.
