Starting Saturday, October 28, BritBox subscribers can join Shudder subscribers and free Dailymotion viewers in devouring the 1980 British anthology series Hammer House of Horror.

The 13 hour-long episodes come from the same Hammer studio best known for its 1950s and ‘60s gory, color movie interpretations of several of the classic Universal horror characters of the ‘30s and ‘40s. One of the major stars of those films, Peter Cushing, is also featured in an episode of Hammer House of Horror, “The Silent Scream.”

But it’s a House episode about a house that’s most memorable. “The House That Bled to Death” has received numerous kudos over the years, including placing fifth on MeTV’s countdown of the “10 Scariest Episodes of Classic Television.”

A childrens’ birthday party scene, in particular, has cemented the episode’s reputation. Brace yourself!
