‘World Wide Nate’

Two weeks after The Africa Channel launched its subscription streaming service, Demand Africa, the company’s TAC Studios has sold an ambitious new series to Urban Movie Channel, another subscription streamer.

The 13-episode series, World Wide Nate: African Adventures, stars Nathan Fluellen, described on his website as the star of “World Wide Nate, an award-winning travel & lifestyle web series.” He hasn’t posted much on either  You Tube or Facebook over the past year, though, but explained why in a Facebook post yesterday:

In the series, said TAC Studios, Fluellen “hikes the Democratic Republic of the Congo mountains to the world’s largest lava lake, rappels alongside a 600-foot-tall waterfall in Lesotho, and treks though the Rwandan jungle alongside silverback gorillas, and more.” Viewers, TAC added, “will either pack their bags to replicate Nate’s exploits or settle back in their chairs to experience Africa and the world vicariously through this charming host’s adventures.”

Fluellen is creator and executive producer of the series, as well as host. Here’s a World Wide Nate web series “sizzle reel”:

Subscriptions to Urban Movie Channel (UMC) cost $4.99 a month or $49.99 annually, after a seven-day free trial. The service is available online or via iOS, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and other devices.
