Dark German Tidings

Netflix’s first original series from Germany will debut Friday, December 1. In the 10-episode supernatural-tinged Dark, “the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families…The question is not who has kidnapped the children…but when.”

But you needn’t wait till December for a German production mixing missing children with the supernatural. Sling TV’s Eurochannel this weekend will premiere We Are the Tide, a 2016 movie in which two young scientists set out to solve the mystery of why “15 years ago, the sea retreated from a small town, taking all the children away with it.” The film, winner of the Audience Award at last year’s Torino Film Festival, debuts this Saturday at 9 pm ET, and will then run nine more times during the month. We Are the Tide stars Max Mauff (Felix Berner in Netflix’s sci-fi series Sense8) and Lana Cooper (soon to be in Deutschland 86, a sequel to Sundance TV’s Cold War political thriller Deutschland 83, now available on Hulu.)

You can see We Are the Tide and the entire Eurochannel schedule by subscribing to any Sling English International package for as little as $10 per month, with a seven-day free trial.
