‘Kotter’ Marathon

Over-the-air channel Antenna TV will host a 17 hour/34-episode Welcome Back, Kotter marathon this Labor Day, September 4, starting at 5 am ET.

The marathon will also include classic moments from the show; cultural trivia from 1975 to 1979, the years the show originally aired on ABC; interviews with present-day residents of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where Kotter was set, about the show’s legacy; and a return to places that were filmed in 1975.

Created by comedian Gabe Kaplan, the series stars Kaplan as the dryly humorous high-school teacher Gabe Kotter, Marcia Strassman as his wife Julie, and John Sylvester White as the crotchety assistant principal, Mr. Woodman. The incorrigible “Sweathogs” include John Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino, Robert Hegyes as Juan Epstein, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as Vinnie “Boom-Boom” Washington, and Ron Palillo as Arnold Horshack.

Following the marathon, Welcome Back, Kotter will have a regular schedule, airing weeknights at 6:30 pm ET, with a second episode running Mondays through Thursdays, and on Sundays, at 1:30 am ET.
