We’re Talkin’ Texas TV

The eyes of Texas are upon us today!

In Houston, a new Texas-centric station will premiere over-the-air this afternoon. MyTexasTV can be found locally on channel 21, but viewers anywhere can stream today’s launch special from 3-5 pm local time/4-6 pm ET at www.kvqt21.com. You can also watch the station’s live feed right here:

Local shows will air each weekday from 3-5 pm and 6-10 pm, reports CultureMap Houston. Titles include From the RooftopThe Real Life Attitude Guy ShowGet Out of Town,  Fantasy Football, The Melanie Davis Show and On the Scene. During the rest of its daytime schedule, KVQT will run BizTV Network (6 am t0 3 pm, 5-6 pm). Movies and infomercials will run overnights from 10 pm, and all weekend.

BizTV comes from Texas’ other huge city, Dallas, where documentary filmmaker Media Projects today announced plans for a 40th anniversary special. It will air locally on PBS station KERA, channel 13, September 14, at 10 pm.

Media Projects has produced 40 films over its 40-year history. Instead of providing a list of selected titles, we’ll let co- founder and filmmaker Cynthia Salzman Mondell, describe them: “A woman called us to say she saved a man’s life after she watched A Reason To Live. A family wrote how Louie, Louie helped them discuss caregiving for their elderly mother. A young boy talked about equal rights for everyone after watching Dreams Of Equality. A high school class developed a volunteer reading project after watching the JFK Legacy film.”
