Streaming subscription service YouTube Red will debut two comedies this fall.

Veronica Mars‘ Ryan Hansen plays himself in the eight-episode, half-hour comedy, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television. The premise? The Los Angeles Police Department forms a task force that partners “actors with homicide detectives so they can use their ‘actor skills’ to help solve murders.” The Handmaid’s Tale’s Samira Wiley is his partner, Detective Mathers. Joel McHale, Jon Cryer and Kristen Bell, among others, will make guest appearances playing “bizarro versions of themselves.” The producers said Ryan Hansen will be “as much about Hollywood as it is an action-comedy cop show.” Rawson Marshall is director, writer, creator and executive producer for the series.

The title of the second eight-episode comedy, Do You Want to See a Dead Body?, also serves as plot summary. Childrens Hospital‘s Rob Huebel and celebrity friends, including Adam Scott, Judy Greer, Terry Crews, Craig Robinson and John Cho, go – for the sake of adventure – on a quest to see a dead body. Huebel, is one of the executive producers, with Abominable Pictures and Funny or Die jointly producing the series.

YouTube Red, which costs $9.99 a month, offers original movies and series, as well as a “premium music service.” For more info, visit www.youtube.com/red.
