Hurley Doc Starts Today

Legacy: Bob Hurley, a documentary series chronicling the possible final season of a heralded high school basketball coach, streams for free starting today, February 20, on Showtime’s sho.com and the Showtime Sports YouTube channel. A new 10-minute episode will debut each Monday for six weeks.

During his 45-year career at Saint Anthony High School (Jersey City, NJ), Bob Hurley’s teams have won 28 state championships. But, as the 2016-17 season unfolds in the Showtime series, a financial crisis “threatens to shutter the inner-city private school if it can’t raise upwards of $10 million.”

This year’s regular season schedule runs through this Friday, February 24, so the story is still unfolding as the Showtime series streams. Hurley is now also president of the school, which has fewer than 200 students but keeps sending them to the NBA, so he’s quite involved in Saint Anthony’s quest to raise the needed funds.
