‘Annie Awards’ Feb 4

The 44th Annual Annie Awards, honoring the best in animation, will stream live this Saturday, February 4, at 10 pm ET.

Nominated for Best Animated Feature are Moana, Zootopia, Kubo and the Two Strings, Finding Dory and Kung Fu Panda. (The first three movies have also received Oscar nominations in the Animated Feature category.)

Netflix’s BoJack Horseman received a nomination for Best General Audience Animated Television for the episode “Return of the Gladiator.” It’s up against episodes of broadcast network shows The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers, and cable shows Long Live the Royals and The Venture Bros.

Other nominees representing streaming services include:

  • Best Animated Television for Preschool Children: episodes of Netflix’s Ask the StoryBots, Netflix’s Puffin Rock, Amazon’s The Stinky & Dirty Show and Amazon’s Tumble Leaf, along with PBS Kids’ Peg & Cat
  • Best Animated Television for Children: an episode of Netflix’s Voltron Legendary Defender.
