‘Car Star” Starts on go90

Car Star, a 12-part weekly series premiering today on the free service go90, is billed by producer Sony Music Entertainment as a singing battle.

The first 10-minute episode features five lip-synced, in-car, performance videos of the Chainsmokers’ song “Don’t Let Me Down”: by rapper Ace Hood, social media comedy star Anwar Jibawi, and three teams of contestants.

Host is actress Arielle Vandenberg, who amassed 2.1 million followers on Twitter’s dying Vine service and is “an expert at creating watchable digital moments,” according to Lee Stimmel, head of Sony Music’s Original Content division.

Participating recording artists in future episodes will include Christina Milian, Lindsey Stirling, Raekwon, Magic!, Kat Dahlia, Omi, Ben Rector, Pentatonix and Wote.

Upcoming “online influecers” will be Cole LaBrant, Alx James, Cierra Ramirez, Tristan De Burgh, Carlie Craig, Dormtainment, SketchShe, Andie Case, and Queenzflip.

Songs to be lip-synced were not revealed.
