‘The Munsters’ Rule

The Munsters or The Addams Family? Fans of macabre TV comedy have debated that question ever since the two shows originally battled each other during a concurrent two-season run in the mid-1960s.

This weekend, The Munsters has the upper hand, at least in terms of quantity and originality.

Leading up to Halloween, over-the-air channel Cozi TV and Antenna TV will respectively show 24 episodes of The Munsters and 18 episodes of The Addams Family.

Cozi will also feature original “Munster Stomp” segments as well as a repeat of last year’s original “Auto Tune The Munsters” episode.

You can catch The Munsters on Cozi from 1 pm to 7 pm ET on both Saturday and Sunday. For The Addams Family, tune to Antenna TV from 3 am to noon on Sunday.

The “Munster Stomp,” for which Cozi recently filmed a “flash mob” segment in Times Square, is based on the dance that Herman Munster (Fred Gwynne) does in the episode, “Dance With Me, Herman” (Saturday, 1:30 pm). “Auto Tune The Munsters ” (Saturday, 6:30 pm, and Sunday, 1pm) is a revamped “rock opera” version of the episode “A Man for Marilyn” featuring new songs, animation and effects.

Here are videos of the “Munster Stomp”in Times Square and a teaser for last year’s premiere of  “Auto Tune”:

The Munsters regularly airs weeknights at 6 pm ET on Cozi TV, and The Addams Family Saturdays at 5 pm and Sundays at 10 am on Antenna TV.
