‘Peanuts’ on the Campaign Trail

With MetLife firing the Peanuts gang from its marketing efforts after 31 years, The Savvy Screener first set out to find some of the ad campaign’s debut commercials from 1985. Here are a couple, including a Christmas spot:

Moving forward nearly 30 years, here’s a favorite MetLife/Peanuts spot, from the 2014 Super Bowl:

But don’t worry about Snoopy and his friends needing to collect unemployment. They’ve been shilling for one brand or another for nearly 60 years. There’s a collection of such commercials on this YouTube page. Here they are, starting with their first spot (also the first-ever Peanuts cartoon), for Ford in 1959:

Finally, while doing our research for this article, The Savvy Screener discovered that we had somehow missed including Snoopy (and some other cartoon characters) in last week’s series on celebrity Presidential candidates. So here we go:
