Another Way to Stream in 4K

Xiaomi’s Mi Box, which allows viewers to stream movies and shows in 4K Ultra HD (High Definition), is available to purchase for $69 at starting today. It will also be sold at and in Walmart stores beginning in early October.

Mi Box, which is “powered by Google’s Android TV,” enables access to thousands of movies and shows via streaming apps from Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Vudu, Pluto TV, Red Bull TV and other services (some of these require a paid subscription). Viewers can also access videos from You Tube, music from Pandora and games from Google Play. In addition, Mi Box carries live TV channels including ESPN, CNN and Disney, “without a cable subscription through Sling TV.”

As part of an introductory promotion, Mi Box is offering special subscription and content purchase discounts from Sling TV, Pandora and VUDU. Visit Mi to learn more.

The next generation in television technology, 4K Ultra HD offers four times the number of pixels as regular HD, thereby delivering a much clearer picture. PC Magazine provides a more in-depth description of 4K in this April article.
